Figure Skaters

Olympic Figure Skating Champion Oksana Baiul skating on
Super-Glide skating surface.

Great for Training:

Super-Glide increases speed and endurance, with slightly more resistance than ice, the skater presses harder and becomes stronger. When returning to ice the skater presses the same amount and goes faster. Super-Glide is great for developing the students' jumps and spins! From the Waltz Jump to the Triple Axel, all figure skating elements can be achieved.

  • Edge jumps - The skater presses harder into the jump on Super-Glide, when returning to ice, the skater is now really pressing into the jump, increasing the height.
  • Toe jumps- Teaches the student to place the toe pick for the most efficient take-off.
  • Spins - Concentrating on the positions and using more strength, the students spins increase in speed and control.

Initially some skaters may feel uncomfortable spinning on the Super-Glide surface. It challenges the skater to refine their spin and work on the small flaws in their technique. After just a few weeks of practice on Super-Glide the skater has more knowledge and ability for spins. In the end it teaches the skater to do spins and jumps perfectly whether on Super-Glide or real ice.

The increased practice time available with a home rink shows its results within days. Students that were once the slowest are soon among the fastest. We have seen these results time and time again.

You can practice during the times you would be normally driving to the ice rink. You become a better skater and save time, money, and gas.

"The kids loved skating outdoors, within ½ an hour they were doing Axels, Double Flips, we couldn't get them off. Super-Glide is Amazing."
